Anthony Edwards' Clutch Block Secures Historic Timberwolves Comeback Against Thunder
Minnesota erases 24-point deficit in stunning 131-128 overtime victory
Minneapolis, MN - February 25, 2025 - The Minnesota Timberwolves staged a remarkable comeback Monday night, overcoming a 25-point deficit to defeat the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder 131-128 in overtime.
Anthony Edwards delivered the game-saving play with a block on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's potential go-ahead layup with 13.2 seconds remaining in overtime.

Historic Rally
Down 102-80 entering the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves outscored the Thunder 41-19 in the final frame to force overtime. According to ESPN Research, Minnesota became just the second team in the play-by-play era to win after trailing by at least 16 points in the final four minutes of regulation.
The comeback ranks as the fourth-largest fourth-quarter rally in NBA history since 1997-98.
Team Effort Without Key Players
The Timberwolves' victory came without center Rudy Gobert (back spasms) and forward Julius Randle (groin injury). Jaden McDaniels led Minnesota with 27 points, while Naz Reid added 22 points and 11 rebounds. Nickeil Alexander-Walker contributed 21 points, and rookie Terrence Shannon Jr. provided a crucial spark with 11 fourth-quarter points.
Edwards, playing through apparent calf discomfort, finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists despite sitting most of the fourth quarter.
Thunder Fall Despite SGA's Performance
Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City with 39 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. Jalen Williams added 27 points for the Thunder, who maintain a 46-11 record despite the loss.
The Timberwolves improve to 32-27 and will face the Lakers in Los Angeles on Thursday, while Oklahoma City hosts the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
