Chiefs Dominate Texans 23-14: Mahomes-Kelce Connection Powers AFC Title Game Return

The Kansas City Chiefs continued their playoff supremacy Saturday, defeating the Houston Texans 23-14 to advance to their seventh straight AFC Championship game. The dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, cheered on by Taylor Swift, proved unstoppable as Kelce caught seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.

Mahomes, fresh off becoming a father for the third time, extended his perfect divisional round record to 7-0 while helping head coach Andy Reid secure his 300th career win. The Chiefs' defense smothered Texans' rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud with eight sacks, showcasing why they're aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl title.

The victory sets up a thrilling AFC Championship matchup at Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chiefs will face either the Buffalo Bills or Baltimore Ravens. For Houston, despite a strong effort from running back Joe Mixon (88 yards, one touchdown), their divisional round drought continues as they remain winless in six attempts.

"It's been a special run," said Mahomes, who threw for 177 yards. "These are the moments that I'll cherish my entire life."

The defending champions proved why they're still the team to beat, with Kelce delivering a crucial 11-yard touchdown catch in the second half that helped seal the victory. Harrison Butker's late field goal secured the win, keeping the Chiefs' dreams of a three-peat alive.

The Chiefs will host the AFC Championship game next Sunday, seeking to become the first team in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl after winning consecutive titles.
