McCarthy Drawing Bears, Saints Interest After Cowboys Exit

Just hours after parting ways with Dallas, Mike McCarthy is already in high demand. The former Cowboys head coach is expected to interview with the Chicago Bears as early as Wednesday, while the New Orleans Saints have also expressed strong interest in the veteran coach.

While McCarthy might not generate the same buzz as rising stars like Lions' offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, his track record speaks volumes. During his 13-season tenure with the Packers, he posted a 125-77-2 record with nine playoff appearances and a Super Bowl victory. His recent stint with the Cowboys proved equally impressive, going 49-35 with three straight 12-5 seasons.

For the Bears, who hold the first overall pick in the 2024 draft and are likely eyeing quarterback Caleb Williams, McCarthy's experience developing quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott could be particularly appealing. His offensive background, including roles as quarterbacks coach with the Chiefs and offensive coordinator with both the Saints and 49ers, makes him an intriguing candidate for a team looking to build around a young quarterback.

Both teams are moving quickly to secure interviews, signaling McCarthy's continued high stock in the NFL coaching market despite his recent departure from Dallas.
