Prime Time Return? Cowboys and Deion Talking Top Job
Jerry Jones might be cooking up the NFL's biggest plot twist of 2024. The Cowboys owner has reportedly reached out to Deion Sanders about Dallas's head coaching vacancy, bringing "Prime Time" full circle to where he won his last Super Bowl ring.
Sanders, currently leading Colorado's college program, confirmed the conversation with his characteristic flair. "To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful," he told ESPN, while carefully noting his commitment to Boulder. But there's an intriguing twist – Coach Prime has said he'd consider an NFL jump if it meant coaching his sons, including star quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
The timing feels almost poetic. As Dallas parts ways with Mike McCarthy after five seasons, they're eyeing a franchise legend who helped deliver their last Super Bowl in '95. During his Dallas playing days (1995-1999), Sanders was a four-time Pro Bowler and epitomized the Cowboys' swagger.
The biggest hurdle? Dallas would likely need to make a dramatic draft-day move from their current No. 12 spot to land Shedeur Sanders, who's projected as an early first-round pick. But if anyone knows how to make splashy moves, it's Jerry Jones.
