Raptors Secure Brandon Ingram's Future with $120M Extension After Trade Deadline Deal
The Toronto Raptors have secured their latest acquisition, Brandon Ingram, with a three-year, $120 million contract extension that includes a player option for the 2027-28 season. The deal comes shortly after Toronto acquired the talented forward from the New Orleans Pelicans in a significant trade deadline move last week.

The extension, confirmed by Ingram's representatives to ESPN's Shams Charania, keeps the 27-year-old star from entering free agency this summer and solidifies Toronto's commitment to building around their young core. The Raptors, who gave up forwards Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk along with draft capital to acquire Ingram, are positioning themselves for a strong future despite their current 16-37 record.
Ingram, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since December, was averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 22 games this season before the injury. His impressive statistics place him among an elite group of only six NBA players who have maintained averages of 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists over the past four seasons.
The former All-Star and Most Improved Player will join a promising young roster featuring Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, and RJ Barrett, signaling the Raptors' long-term vision for success. His exceptional mid-range shooting ability - second only to DeMar DeRozan in made midrange shots per game - addresses Toronto's current struggles with off-the-dribble shooting, where they rank last in the league.
During his six-season tenure with the Pelicans, Ingram established himself as one of the franchise's most prolific scorers, matching Anthony Davis's record of six seasons averaging 20 or more points. His departure from New Orleans marks the end of an era that began when he arrived as part of the Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers in 2019.
