Thunder Makes Statement: SGA's 40 Leads OKC Rout
In a battle of the NBA's best, the Thunder didn't just win – they sent a message, demolishing the Cleveland Cavaliers 134-114 on Thursday night at the Paycom Center.
By The Numbers:
SGA: 40 points (15-22 FG), 8 assists
Lu Dort: 22 points (6-9 from three)
Jalen Williams: 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals
Thunder at halftime: 75-49 lead, 58% from three (11-19)
Cavs' Mitchell: Season-low 8 points (3-15 FG)
Garland: 20 points, 9 assists
Allen & Mobley combined: Just 18 points
Thunder's biggest lead: 42 points (115-73)
The game was over early. After Cleveland's brief 12-10 lead, OKC unleashed a devastating 22-2 run, with SGA outscoring the entire Cavs team 15-14 in the first quarter. Cleveland shot a miserable 6-23 with seven turnovers in the opening frame.
The rout came despite OKC missing center Isaiah Hartenstein (left calf strain). Both teams now sit at 34-6, tied for the NBA's best record, but this rematch of last week's Cavs victory (129-122) showed just how dangerous the Thunder can be at full throttle.
Next up: Cleveland faces the Timberwolves Saturday, while OKC heads to Dallas for a Friday night showdown with the Mavericks.
